Privacy policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
This policy explains what information RaisingMoney.com collects and how it's used. We collect as little as we can.
What we collect
- Comments. If you comment on an article, we store the name, email address and comment you submit. Your name and comment are shown publicly once approved. Your email address is never shown.
- Newsletter / early-access signup. If you sign up, we store your email address, the optional name and interest you enter, the page you signed up on, and the fact that you agreed to hear from us.
- Contact form. If you contact us, we store your name, email address and message, so we can reply.
- Funding requests ("Get funded"). We store what you enter: your name, email, optional company and phone, how much you want to raise and why, and details about your business (stage, time in business, revenue range, optional credit range, industry, state, business type). We also store the funding options we matched, and the two choices you made: whether we may contact you, and whether we may introduce you to a partner.
- Investor listings. If you apply to be listed, we store the profile you submit and a private contact email. Only the profile is published, after review. Your email is never shown.
- Introduction requests. If you ask to be introduced to an investor, we store your request, which we may share with that investor because you asked us to.
- Accounts. If you create an account, we store your name, email address, a one-way hash of your password (never the password itself), your settings, and the pages, requests and indications you create while signed in.
- Raise pages. What you write on a raise page is published after review, apart from any private offering details, which are shown only to members we have approved as accredited investors.
- Interest and introductions. If you tell a founder you're interested and tick the sharing box, we give that founder your name and email address. If you don't tick it, they see only your name and message.
- Accredited-investor status. If you self-certify, we store which accredited-investor test you said you meet and our review decision. We may ask for evidence before approving.
- Syndicates. If you join a syndicate, we store your membership and any non-binding amounts you indicate. The syndicate's lead may see them.
- Payments. Pro subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us your subscription status.
- How you found us. When you submit a form, we store marketing parameters from the link you arrived
on (such as
utm_sourceor an ad click ID), if there were any. - Abuse prevention. With each comment, signup or message we store a one-way hash of your IP address combined with the date. We use it to spot spam, and it can't be turned back into your IP address.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent or trade your information.
- We don't use advertising or analytics cookies on our public pages. The only cookie the site sets is a login cookie for our own editors.
- We don't send your comments, signups, messages, funding requests or introduction requests to AI services.
- We don't share a funding request with any lender, adviser or other partner unless you ticked the box allowing an introduction. When you do, we share it with a small number of matched partners, and we email you the name of every partner that received it, and whether that partner pays us a referral fee.
- The calculators don't store anything you type.
Who processes data for us
The site is delivered through Cloudflare (content delivery and security), which processes requests, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. It runs on servers and a database hosted by DigitalOcean. Email is sent through Mailchimp Transactional (Mandrill), and payments are handled by Stripe.
We send account and transaction emails (confirmations, password resets, receipts, notices about your pages and requests). Newsletters go only to people who opted in, and every one includes an unsubscribe link and our postal address. Unsubscribing stops marketing email but not account email. You can also ask us to remove you at any time through the contact form.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you, using the contact form. We'll keep information only as long as it's needed for the purposes above, or until you ask us to delete it.
Children
This site is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
